St. Thomas Aquinas and the Tabernacle

One day a frightful tempest raged around the monastery in which St. Thomas lived. Overcome by fear, the monks fled into the cloister to seek a refuge. The Angelic Doctor, however, sought refuge where his heart attracted him, before the tabernacle of the Eucharist . . . [H]e awaited in silence the end of the terrific storm.

In the storms of the world and of the passions, amidst calumny, persecutions, and troubles which may rise up against us, let us seek refuge with the God of hosts, and we shall find a shelter and a tower of might against the furious onslaughts of the enemies of our soul.
